Online Learning with the TESDA ONLINE PROGRAM

Online Learning with the TESDA ONLINE PROGRAM

Education in the Philippines has been relegated to stifling classrooms with chalkboards and uncomfortable arm chairs, you’d be lucky if you get the more comfortable plastic version, or even an actual desk; which you have to share with your classmates of course.
But with the development of our countries educational system, students can now experience far more options, enter Online Education.
Although online education or online learning has its own sets of limitation and traditional learning is still far better, there are advantages in online education, especially with the TESDA Online Program.

WHAT IS ONLINE EDUCATION?

Online education or online learning is an educational medium that allows students to participate in various online courses through the use of the internet. No physical classrooms here, students can do it anywhere as long as they have a computer and internet connection, even at the comfort of their homes.

WHAT IS THE TESDA ONLINE PROGRAM (TOP)

The TESDA Online Program, TOP for short, is an online learning system for all Filipino citizens, its developed for anyone to access educational resources through the use of the internet. TOP focuses on technical education and skills development.
The program is open to students, out-of-school youths, unemployed adults, local and overseas workers, and professionals. Virtually anyone can enroll for the courses offered in TOP.

ADVANTAGES OF TESDA ONLINE PROGRAM

As for any other online learning program, students enrolled in TOP can study at their own pace, at their own time, and even at the comfort of their own homes.  As long as you have a laptop or desktop computer and internet connection, you can enroll in the program. Even overseas workers can take TESDA courses on their free time while abroad.

TOP courses are designed to cater to any Filipino who like to enhance their technical skills and knowledge. The program offers courses in Tourism, Automotive, Electronics, Maritime and Agriculture just to name a few. They even have a course in Lifelong Learning Skills with subjects like ‘Job Interview Skills training course’, ‘How to Build Confidence in your Ability’ and ‘Skills to Succeed Academy’.

Although TESDA is not yet providing training certificates, you can get one after you finish an online course. You just have to take the face-to-face assessment for National Certification at any TESDA accredited assessment center.

Oh! and did we mention, this program is completely FREE!

Online education still has a long way to go before it could be widely recognized here in our country and its still being stereotyped. We often think that this type of program is for people who are just to lazy to go to an actual school. Nevertheless, some of the most famous people in the world earned their degree through online learning and found success, like Steven Speilberg, best known for co-founding DreamWorks and directing films like Jurassic Park and Jaws. Speilberg actually dropped out of out of California State University in 1986 to concentrate on creating films, but he completed his degree in BA in Film Production and Electronic Arts, back in 2002 through online learning at the same university. Nelson Mandela, while incarcerated studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of London’s External Degree Programme. There’s also James Franco, Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Shaquille O’Neal; who earned an MBA through online learning courses at the university of Phoenix in 2005.

Online learning in the Philippines definitely still has a long way to go but it would be a great revolution in contemporary education. If you have free time, take advantage of this offering, you never know when those skills might come in handy. Or you can share this article to a friend or a relative.
